House of Naidún

From CaelemsWiki

The House of Naidún was one of the great clans of the Adoun and the dynasty of Uroúd the Beautiful. It is said that the founder of the house, Naidún, was born in the Old Homeland to an unnamed mother and the god Arodnán. He founded his house after he throttled King Udoul the Tyrant while he was still on his throne, taking Udoul's wife as his own and killing his children and brothers to prevent them from seeking vengeance. The Kingdom of Naidún was the most powerful of the ancient Adoun kingdoms, and it is supposed that it forced the other Adoun kings to pay tribute for two thousand years. When Man left the Old Homeland, the House of Naidún was one of three clans that led the Adoun Coalition into Laredhidan.

Uroúd the Beautiful led the House of Naidún during the Great Migration, and it was he and the other Heroes of the Adoun who convinced their people to press onward rather than stay in the paradisiacal gardens of Phoroskalat. When the Adoun reached Kalduor, the House of Naidún intermarried into the royal House of Dhamast-dohor, thereby founding the Kalduorian Empire. These intermarriages rendered the House of Naidún extinct, as their Anchulaín spouses had as a requirement that the children of their unions belong to the House of Dhamast-dohor.

Many pretenders have claimed to belong to the House of Naidún, alleging themselves to be bastards or related as a distant lineage. The most prominent of these pretenders was Uroúd Reborn, whose uprising is considered a prelude to Dehir's Rebellion. Dehir the Great, though claiming no descent from the House of Naidún, was claimed by a great number of Kalduorians to be a lost scion of Naidún, as they could not countenance the idea of a slave of no noble heritage becoming Name-King.
